Office 365 Office Pro Plus or Plan E3 – The two plans we sketch here. Both have license rights for the latest version of Microsoft as long as you continue your subscription. There is no pre-purchase and each user can install up to 5 copies of Office on their various devices. Licenses can also be installed on a terminal server environment, whether installed locally or via a virtual server in Microsoft Azure. SPLA License – SPLA licenses are a particular type of license that is usually used on virtual cloud servers (but not always). It is synonymous with the Service Provider License Agreement, and with an SPLA license, each user license costs an amount per month. The number of SPLA licenses can be changed from month to month if the requirements change and you still have rights to the latest version of Microsoft Office. If you want to move users to Office 365®, you must reserve the necessary licenses. Core License – The SQL Core license is where you concede SQL Server based on the number of CPU cores you have on your server, much like windows Server described above.
Licenses will be included in the 2 core packs and you will need to have at least 4 core licenses (whether you are assigned 4 cores or not). This type of license is a unique pre-sale and is usually used in a virtual server environment where you can assign the number of cores to your SQL server. The basic license is generally cost-effective if you have more than 20 users who somehow access the SQL server data, or if you plan to increase the number of users beyond 20 in the near future. There are no upgrade fees for newer versions of Microsoft SQL with basic license. Microsoft Online Subscription Agreement (MOSA) is a transaction licensing agreement for commercial, government and academic organizations with one or more users/devices. MOSA is best suited for organizations that want to subscribe, enable, deploy and manage cloud services through the Microsoft Online Subscription Program (MOSP) seamlessly and directly across the web. Local software and software insurance are not available via MOSA. Basic licenses are sold in packs of two. You must buy at least 8 packages per physical server you have. The standard edition of Windows 2016 Server offers rights for up to 2 separate installations, allowing you to run 2 virtual servers per physical server for every 16 core licenses you own. If you want to get a license for more than 2 virtual servers on 1 physical server, all core licenses must be redeemed.
